How is HeadStart Docs different from the free AUSTRAC Starter Kits?

AUSTRAC Starter Kits are generic starting points that require significant customisation. HeadStart products are sector-specific, pre-populated with industry-relevant risk factors and scenarios, and include 12 months of AML Portal access for ongoing compliance including screening, record keeping and reporting tools.

What if the AML/CTF rules change after I purchase?

Your digital products are yours to keep. If significant regulatory changes occur, updated versions will be available to active portal subscribers. The AML Portal itself is continuously updated to reflect current AUSTRAC requirements and sanctions lists.

What happens after my 12-month AML portal access expires?

Your documentation is yours forever. To continue using the AML Portal (screening tools, compliance calendar, record keeping), you pay $35 per customer CDD. Cancel anytime — no subscription required.

No. HeadStart Docs is a digital publisher and platform provider. We sell digital compliance products and portal access. We do not provide legal advice. Referrals for legal advice can be made to our related law firm, HeadStart Counsel.

When does AML/CTF Tranche 2 commence in Australia?

Tranche 2 AML/CTF obligations commence on 1 July 2026. All reporting entities in designated sectors including lawyers, accountants, real estate agents, conveyancers, and trust and company service providers must have their AML/CTF programs in place by this date.

How much does the AML Portal cost?

When you run CDDs through us ($35 inc GST per Individual CDD — includes PEP, Sanctions and Adverse Media screening; VOI is a guided self-completed workflow), there is no monthly portal fee. If you prefer to bring your own verification APIs and run CDDs yourself, BYO-API plans start from $20/month. Company CDD is no-charge record-keeping; the company obtains its own ASIC extract from ASIC Connect (~$9) and you upload the PDF. Subject to licence terms.

What do Program Packs include?

Our program is $249 inc GST one-time and includes configuration & schedule setup, a complimentary policy, and a complete sector-specific AML/CTF program (policies, procedures, risk assessments, decision trees and more) accessible via the AML Portal. The Reporting Group edition (Commercial Licence) is $1500 inc GST one-time and adds multi-entity management. You can alternatively sign up and bring your own program. CDD is $35 per customer, pay-as-you-go.

How does CDD pricing work?

Individual CDD costs $35 inc GST per customer and includes PEP screening, Sanctions screening (DFAT + UN), Adverse Media screening and Guided VOI (self-completed, step-by-step workflow). Company CDD is $0 — record-keeping for your CDD file. The company obtains its own ASIC extract from ASIC Connect (~$9), you upload the PDF, and our AI extracts directors, shareholders and company details. You can pass Individual CDD costs to your client as a disbursement.

Do I need legal review?

Yes. Our documents do not consider your individual circumstances and do not include legal advice or review. All users have access to HeadStart Counsel, our related legal practice, for review and tailoring from $1,800+GST. Legal review fees are collected by HeadStart Counsel, not HeadStart Docs.
