    How to Enrol with AUSTRAC: 5-Minute Guide

    Enrolling with AUSTRAC is straightforward. Here's exactly what you need to know and how to do it when the time comes.

    Key Dates

    Enrolment for new Tranche 2 entities opens 31 March 2026. Your AML/CTF obligations commence from 1 July 2026. You should have your program ready before you enrol.

    What is AUSTRAC Enrolment?

    Enrolment is the process of registering your business with AUSTRAC as a reporting entity. Once enrolled, you're officially part of Australia's AML/CTF regime and can:

    • Submit reports through AUSTRAC Online
    • Access AUSTRAC's online services
    • Receive regulatory communications
    • Be included in the register of reporting entities

    When to Enrol

    For Tranche 2 entities:

    • 31 March 2026:Enrolment opens for new Tranche 2 entities
    • 1 July 2026:Obligations commence - you must be enrolled and have a compliant program

    Important: Don't wait until the last minute. Enrol soon after 31 March 2026 to ensure your registration is processed before your obligations commence.

    What You'll Need to Enrol

    Prepare the following before starting your enrolment:

    Enrolment Requirements

    • Business details

      ABN, ACN (if applicable), registered business name

    • Contact information

      Business address, phone, email for AUSTRAC communications

    • Designated services

      Know which designated services you provide

    • Compliance Officer details

      Name and contact details of your AML/CTF Compliance Officer

    • AusKey/myGovID

      Digital identity for AUSTRAC Online access

    Step-by-Step Enrolment Process

    1. Set up myGovID

      If you don't have a myGovID (or existing AusKey), create one at mygovid.gov.au. You'll need identity documents.

    2. Access AUSTRAC Online

      Visit online.austrac.gov.au and log in with your myGovID.

    3. Start new enrolment

      Select the option to enrol as a new reporting entity.

    4. Enter business details

      Provide your ABN, business name, and contact information.

    5. Select designated services

      Choose the designated services your business provides.

    6. Nominate Compliance Officer

      Enter details of your AML/CTF Compliance Officer.

    7. Review and submit

      Check all details and submit your enrolment.

    After Enrolment

    Once enrolled, you'll receive:

    • Confirmation of your enrolment
    • Access to AUSTRAC Online reporting functions
    • Your unique entity identifier
    • Information about your ongoing obligations

    Before You Enrol

    Don't enrol without having your AML/CTF program ready. Enrolment means you're declaring yourself a reporting entity with all associated obligations. Make sure you have:

    • A documented AML/CTF program appropriate to your services
    • Risk assessment completed
    • Customer due diligence procedures in place
    • Staff trained (if applicable)
    • Record keeping systems established
